Traveling Tryouts

Tryout Process Instructions/Details

There are two scheduled tryout dates in 2020: Sunday, March 15, and Sunday, March 22.  Registered players must attend at least one tryout date.  Players will be evaluated by non-RYBA (Great Lakes Baseball Academy) affiliated personnel.

Players will be evaluated on the following skills:
Hitting: mechanics, contact and power
Pitching: mechanics, accuracy and velocity
Running Speed: 30-yard run
Infield: footwork, hands, accuracy and arm strength
Outfield: footwork, hands, accuracy and arm strength

RYBA will use the best score of the two tryout dates from each skill station to determine an overall tryout score.  Therefore, the Travel Committee recommends players attend both tryout dates to potentially improve their tryout score(s) unless there are circumstances (e.g., illness, state tournaments, family conflicts) that prevent someone from participating. Missing one date will not adversely affect a player; however, if someone misses both tryout dates for non-injury reasons they will not be placed on a RYBA travel baseball team.  If your player is injured and cannot participate in either scheduled tryout date, please contact a travel committee member before March 15.

Similar to previous years, only evaluators and RYBA board members/volunteers are allowed in the dome during tryouts.  No parents are allowed.  There will be a parent meeting at the same time as the tryout in a location to be determined in the RCTC Fieldhouse.

RYBA will under no circumstances provide players or parents with evaluation scores after the tryout is complete.
