2017 Summer Showdown Tournament

ALL UPDATES POSTED HERE

Update 7/5 (4:00pm): The 2017 tournament schedule has been posted! Teams will not be added until FINAL standings have been determined. Due to feedback in previous years, we have spread the tournament out slightly in order to minimize any team playing more than 1 game in a day, and completely eliminate any team playing 3 games in a day (which is common in standard tournament formats). We have some special plans for the championship games falling on a weeknight, we hope you'll come out to the park to see those games regardless if your team made it! Best of luck to all teams!

Please note: the 5 team brackets may not make sense until the teams have been entered, but the basic date and time information is correct.

Tournament Information

  • FORMAT: The Showdown Tournament is a full featured weekend tournament. Teams will be placed in either pools or a double elimination bracket. For those in pool play, you will play 2-3 pool play games, and the top teams will advance to the Championship Bracket! For double elimination brackets, teams will be seeded into the bracket based on regular season standings.
  • SCHEDULE: Find your age group/level below by clicking on the dropdown menu in the upper left of the NGIN tournament tool.

  • RULES: Unless noted here, the rules for the tournament are the same that you play by during the league year. In order to keep the tournament running on time and smoothly, we have a few changes that are put in place:

    • Time Limits:
      • 6 Inning Games: No new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes.
      • 7 Inning Games: No new inning after 2 hours.
    • No extra innings in pool play
    • Pitching restrictions:
      • All Grades: 1 pitch in an inning constitutes as a full inning for pitching limits
      • 4th/5th Grade: 3 per game and 6 per pool, 3 per game and 6 per bracket (6 inning max per day, 10 inning max per tournament).
      • 6th/7th Grade Minors: 3 per game and 6 per pool, 3 per game and 8 per bracket (8 inning max per day, 10 inning max per tournament).
      • 6th/7th Grade Majors: 4 per game and 8 per pool, 4 per game and 10 per bracket (8 inning max per day, 12 inning max per tournament).
      • 8th Grade: For bracketed tournaments, only the 7 per game, and 12 per tournament are utilized.
      • Pitching rules are on the honor system and each coach should be careful to monitor their own pitchers.  Failure to abide by the rules will result in a forfeit.
    • Home team determined by high seed. Seeds are based on season standings. Pool play games should have the home team noted on the schedule.
  • WHO IS IN CHARGE? The commissioners for your age/level are your primary contacts. They have authority to administer the tournament and all decisions made are FINAL. There is no protesting of games allowed. Questions on tournament format or rules can be submitted to Mike Gozola Jr. or Jack Kall (click to email).
