Batting Cage Signup

The RYBA batting cages and the RBC Practice infield facility located at the Rochester Baseball Complex are managed by Rochester Youth Baseball Association (RYBA). Once the RYBA seasons have started, the cages will be unlocked at approximately 5pm on weekdays when RYBA league fields are in use.   Cages may be used up until 20 minutes prior to dusk. They are not allowed to be used after this due to safety.  The batting cages may only be used for batting practice.  The practice infield may only be used for pitching and fielding. The practice infield MAY NEVER BE USED FOR BATTING PRACTICE (no matter the size or strength of the kids).

You may request usage of the batting cage for your RYBA team for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes.  Usage of the cages is restricted to two cages for 30 minutes or one cage for 60 minutes. During busy times, you will be restricted to one 30 minute cage reservation.

The infield may be reserved through the same process with the same time periods.  However, only 8th grade majors, 8th grade minors, and 14 year old traveling teams may reserve it more than 14 days out due to the shortage of 90’ fields in Rochester for practice).  Others may reserve the use of the practice infield within the next 14 days or may use it as a first-come, first-serve basis (when not reserved).    The infield may only be reserved and used by teams also using the cages to limit players in the area.

You may not request “recurring” usage of the cages and/or practice infield (e.g. every Monday from 5:30-6:30).   You may make multiple requests for batting cages and/or practice infield in the same email with the expectations are that you will use all reservations as requested.  You are limited to 12 future reservations at any given time. Do not schedule the cages unless you plan to use them as this prevents others from leveraging the facilities. RYBA reserves the right to limit multiple reservations before the season starts so that all teams have an equal chance of making reservations. RYBA also reserves the right to cancel any future multiple-requested reservations if too many teams are unable to find reasonable open times to make a reservation.

Your request should include the following:

1)      Your name

2)      Your RYBA grade or traveling level

3)      Your team name

4)      The requested date & times (e.g. 2x30 min or 1x60 min)

5)      The requested facility -- cage and/or infield  (infield ONLY if 8th grade/14 year olds)

RYBA reserves the right to decline any or all requests for use of the batting cages and practice infield and limit a request to use one cage during busy periods. Upon approval for use, an email receipt will be emailed to the requestor.  The online RYBA calendar will also be updated for the cages and practice infield and also include the appropriate calendar “tag” so that it shows up on the teams’ online calendar system. If the reservation is for a time period when the batting cages are normally locked, access to a key to the batting cages may be arranged through RYBA and it is the responsibility of the requestor to lock the cages and return the key the following business day.

Anyone holding a batting cage and/or practice infield reservation must cancel if they do not intend to use the cage(s) and/or practice infield for their reserved time by submitting this request (same way as requesting time).

Anyone using the batting cages assumes full responsibility for damage and assumes all responsibility and liability involved and agree to hold free from any and all liability the Rochester Youth Baseball Association, Rochester Park and Recreation Department and MNSCU, it officers, directors, supervisors, managers, coaches, volunteers or  representatives and also acknowledges that Rochester Youth Baseball Association carries or provides no insurance of any kind.

Under no circumstances should the batting cage nets ever be attached to the batting cage chain link fence. The nets must always hang loosely from the batting cage frame.  NO Metal spikes allowed in the batting cages

Priority for reservations: RYBA Traveling teams, RYBA House teams, Other programs

If the batting cages or practice infield are not in use they are a first come first serve basis but please be courteous to share with other teams at the complex.

Reservations for weekdays are 4:30 or later. Usage prior to that must be first-come, first serve basis but normally is not very active.   It will be locked until 5pm every week day so you would need to contact your grade or travel commissioner for information on how to get into the cages prior to that.

The batting cages and practice infield are open to the public when they are unlocked and are not previously reserved.
