The National HS League has adopted new rules for bats and starting in 2012.

Big Barrel Bat Rules (2 5/8" or 2 3/4"), Effective January 1, 2012

• Have the new permanent USSSA Mark on its taper (see image below) OR
  
• Be a Qualified BBCOR bat
  

Small Barrel Baseball Bat Rules (2 1/4" or less) Effective January 1, 2012

• Have the new permanent USSSA mark on its taper ( (see image below, mid-section of bat) OR
• Have the old permanent USSSA mark (text on barrel that states “USSSA 1.15 BPF”) - This will not be valid in 2014 and beyond.
