RYBA Announces 2016 Will Canan Player of the Year Award

The  2016 RYBA Will Canan Player of the Year Award was presented to Bradyn Brown at the 2016 All-Star Game Draft Party.  Over 500 people joined in celebrating Bradyn’s love of baseball.  Tom Canan, father of Will, presented Bradyn with the trophy.

The 2016 Will Canan Player of the Year Award is named in honor of Will Canan, who passed away following an 8 year battle with a brain tumor.  Will never stopped playing baseball during his battle with cancer, even though the surgeries, and cancer treatments often made it difficult for him to play.  Being able to play with his friends and team mates on his RYBA teams brought Will great joy during difficult times.   Will’s parents Tom and Liz are deeply honored that RYBA has continued Will’s legacy by naming its Player of the Year Award after him so that other players who have overcome great obstacles to be able to play baseball can be recognized for their achievements.

This is one of the largest youth baseball tournaments in the country and Rochester has sent teams every year since the tournament's inception in 1997.
